How It All Started
My name is Fernanda Pires, and I was born in Brazil but have lived in Sweden since I was 6. I speak and design in English, Swedish, Portuguese & Spanish.

I've been into drawing since 1992 and graphic design since 2004. My love for art has existed throughout my life. I started drawing at 2 years old (basically as soon as I could hold a pen), and my granddad would always bring home comic books that I would read and try to recreate with my own set of characters.
At 14 years old my first digital canvas was Photoshop, and I would spend my free time creating what I then called digital scrapbooking. I'd spend hours upon hours designing sets in Polyvore and even created a collage based fashion blog, and recreated design templates similar to the classic teen fashion magazines at the time. The blog is from 2012 but surprisingly still up, in case you're curious.
Growing My Experience
2004 at 15, I decided to study graphic design and Photoshop in Xenter (Stockholm) for 3 years, which lead me to being hired for the visual communications team of the H&M head office back in 2014. It was the period of my life that lead me to learn about branding, meticulous work and the importance of consistency, as well as how to predict trends.

2014-2017 I also ran a cosmetics company called Greenhouse where I learned to create labels and packaging, as well as high converting social media content and of course branding. 2021 I studied psychology, which is another beneficial tool to have in order to evoke positive feelings through design and engage users on an emotional level.
The Style
I do eclectic and commercial work and can match any vibe visually for a project brief - my passion styles are high end minimalism, mixing modern layouts with retro color palettes and fonts, watercolor illustrations (especially of botanicals) and art deco geometry. I also really love making surface pattern designs and sell them on 100+ different merchandise as print on demand on Redbubble and Society6.
The Design Projects
I specialize in packaging, events, personal and corporate branding, illustration work, printed ads and social media templates. Currently I'm expanding my skills when it comes to creating attractive and easy to navigate interfaces such as UX/UI mobile apps and web design, and I'm currently in UX school to keep growing my knowlegde in a super fun part of the design field that also puts my psychology studies to good use!

My current favorite self-teaching method is to prompt ChatGPT to give me any design brief in a specific product or brand tone, and having to envision what that tone would translate into visually and esthetically, matching the client and customer perfectly.
